Foliage frenzy

By Damita Lamont 03 March 2017

Big changes are happening with flora in the wedding world. Coloured blooms are being worn as headpieces, while foliage is taking centre-stage in bridal bouquets. The latter is an emerging trend and one that allows brides to be truly creative.

Some recent bouquet designs are composed entirely of foliage such as: fancy grasses, pretty leaves, ivy, spikes of eucalyptus, ferns or lavender sprigs. This creates many options in colour, texture and theme. Another beautiful aspect is the green on green play; mixing different hues through the use of varied foliage.

Other brides are using nature’s full bounty to create a bouquet, using equal proportions of foliage and blooms. Or, for a more rustic approach, opt for flowering branches complete with leaves.

Regardless of the approach, foliage has taken centre-stage in it’s own right and modern couples are embracing the trend in their own way.
